Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the policy body of the Blount County Chamber of Commerce.  Its members represent a cross-section of the business and professional community throughout the area.  Genuine and unselfish interest in the Chamber and its objectives is the first requirement to be a Board member.  Board members are expected to be actively involved in the Chamber and its programs prior to serving on the Board.  Board members are accountable to the membership, which has the ultimate authority regarding the selection of Directors. The membership vests in these Directors the authority to govern the organization, control its property, set its direction and priorities, direct its financial affairs, and set its policies.

A Director is expected to consider each decision as it relates to the well being of the entire membership, and ultimately, to all of the recipients of chamber services.

How Board Members are selected:

A five-person Nominating Committee comprised of the three (3) most recent past Chairs of the Board of Directors, the current Chair and the Chair-Elect, will notify the membership after the first Monday in June that it will begin considering individuals for nomination and election to the Board of Directors.  If you are interested in serving on the Board, please contact the chamber at: bfarner@blountchamber.com.
