Forbes - Best Places For Business

April 30, 2007

For the second consecutive year, the metro Knoxville area has won fifth spot on Forbes magazine's annual "Best Places for Business and Careers" list.

"Once again Knoxville has proved that we are truly a great place to start a career and business," said Mike Edwards, president and chief executive officer of the Knoxville Chamber. Edwards said that such a national ranking helps the Jobs Now! regional economic development initiative. The objectives are to attract new companies and higher paying jobs, foster growth and retention of the existing industries base and enhance the entrepreneurial environment for new start-up businesses. The economic development campaign supports job growth and new, nonresidential capital investment in the region.

Other Tennessee metros and their Forbes ranking were: Nashville (9), Kingsport (93), Clarksville (102), Chattanooga (108), Memphis (131).
